Well, back in 2009....

Post by Wailwulf on Thu Jul 10, 2014 5:53 pm

...there was this Millionaire, who had this Hobby of buying and restoring tanks, who died.  Well, about 80 of his collection is going into a museum, and the rest are being auctioned off starting tomorrow.  So went up to his hilltop home and did a preview of the tanks being sold.  I am worn out.

Me ripped? LOL, I haven't been close to being in shape in over 10 years.  But I will agree, I do look in better shape in that picture then any of the last few years.

Actually, this is not a Museum, it is part of a collection.  They say 75 to 80 tanks, that were not on display, are going into a museum that is being created for them.  These tanks are the surplus.

They have 4 Stuarts on the auction block.  An M5, two M3A1s (one of which I am in front of) and a M3A3.  The M3A3 was a batch of 62 that ended up having defective armor (on the one they had, a rear plate was cracked in numerous spots).  The M3A3 was used as training vehicles, and to keep them from being shipped off to war, had "For Training Only" welded on to their sides.

Here is a few of the others:

The rare M3 Grant.  M3 Lee's were welded, Grant's were bolted.  I'd have to say, the tank is very roomy, the crew could actually stand up in it.

The Easy 8 and right next to it, the Jumbo.

Right next to the Jumbo was a Pz IV, built in 1944, that had been acquired from Syria by Israel during the Six day war.

Now, for Klagor and Bob:
